Six years back, Bhagya hardly imagined that she would be living such a successful life. As she says, she was married at the age of 14. With a dominating husband and a patriarchal household she wasn’t allowed any say in the family. Extreme gender bias prevailed in all aspects of her life. As money ran short in the family, she often struggled to find work in the fields and earned about Rupees 400 a month.
She feels empowered by the news skills that she has acquired and takes enormous pride in her work. She dreams of a more successful career for her 13-year-old daughter, Anusha.
