Last Sunday, the rooftop of our main building was transformed into yoga ground, where we held a competition. Shakuntala, one of older girls who practices yoga daily herself, had given the others some training and talked about the benefits of different exercises and yoga in general. She was also the main judge.
The girls had to know the three "om"s, perform breathing exercises, meditation and various different asanas. However, that was not enough to get a high score - they also had to know the uses of different exercises and say in their own words, why do they practice yoga at all. The winners were chosen in 4 age categories, the prizes included different drawing and crafts equipment. But what's more important than winning - we hope that this event encouraged our girls to continue this ancient practice.
